Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Ice Storms, etc.. Mother Nature seems to have her way of reminding us that we are simply occupants in her domain. Here in North East Texas, any ice accumulations or wind gusts exceeding 30 mph almost always results in power outages and damaged electronics.
There are many products that can protect your electronics under "normal" conditions. However, when a "weather event" is eminent, backup your computers, turn all your electronics off, and, unplug them (phone lines & cable too). Further, while monitors, printers, etc. can be replaced, you don't want to loose any of your data. Even if you think you have a backup, consider taking your main computer with you, or at least place the main computer in a "safe zone" in your building.

Mel Tormé Oil Change
Keeping a customer for life and increasing customer frequency is the life blood of your business (or it should be). Look at your complete "Oil Change Experience" through the eyes of Mel Tormé.
Mel Tormé wrote one of the most accomplished songs of all time, "The Christmas Song". The words to the opening phrase: "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose" are unique in that they address each of our 5 senses. If I could have interviewed Mel, I would have asked him one question. "Mel, did you intentionally use every one of our 5 senses for the opening phrase of 'The Christmas Song'?" Consider the following:

How do we experience something? Any experience is a culmination of data processed and recorded by our 5 senses. If we had to circle one of the following choices: Good, Bad, or Indifferent, for each of the 5 senses, we would find our best experiences would consist of "Good" being circled for each (or most).
Mel accomplished this feat in the very first phrase! Many lyrics, paintings, presentations, and businesses NEVER accomplish this. The first "phrase" of "your lyrics" occurs when a customer is approaching your business. What does your "5 senses report card" look like? What can you do to heighten your customers senses (in a good way)? What does the "report card" look like upon entering your business, receiving service, paying, and exiting your business?
I realize that some of you are "content" with your volume, however, if you want to grow, grade yourself and make some adjustments.
